Mellisa Shapland is a certified Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200) and a member of Yoga Alliance. She is certified in trauma-informed yoga, prenatal yoga and meditation. She studied restorative yoga’s brain benefits during her teacher certification program taught by Dr Liz Lindh and will be deepening her Yin practice this fall in a 100 hour series taught by Sarasvati Karahan. Mellisa volunteers at rehab centers and offers group and private classes for anxiety relief and deeper restorative yoga practice.

Restorative Yin Yoga: In combination these two practices tap into the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to take the body out of a "fight or flight" state. Yin involves deep stretches, long holds, and calming music to relax the body and reduce stress. Restorative uses gentle poses for deep rest and nervous system calm. This class helps with anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, and ADHD and are good for all skill levels.
